It's Pinterest Month! Yay!



Finally it's here! Pinterest month!

As part of my Year of Marketing, I determined that May would be the month for focusing on Pinterest. I've been looking forward to this one because, let's face it, Pinterest is heaps of fun, always inspiring and now I have a reason to while away the hours on this addictive site!

But there is a serious aspect of this month - I want to figure out how to use Pinterest for marketing and promoting my Etsy shop and my blog, as well as for collecting ideas and inspiration.

So let's get started!

My vague-but-soon-to-be-developed Pinterest plan is as follows:

Daily tasks
- Check my Pinterest feed and like, repin and/or comment on pins as appropriate.
- Find at least two new people to follow on Pinterest based on my business related boards ie. Art & Illustration, Craft Ideas, Indie Biz.
- Pin an item from my Etsy shop everyday.
- Pin a photo from a current or old but still relevant blog post everyday.
- Tweet one pin daily.

Bigger tasks to complete throughout the month
- Read up on tips for Pinterest.
- Organise my boards better.
- Design my own 'pinnable' images and experiment to see which ones work the best.
- Learn how to make a 'pin it' button for my blog.
- Run a 'pin it to win it' contest.

I have an awesome guest post coming from a wonderful Pinterest user to share with you and I'll be sharing my own tips along the way as well.

Because I like numbers, however arbitrary, I will note here that I currently have 345 followers on Pinterest. It will be interesting to see how much this increases with renewed and more focused effort on my part!

    Oh yes! Those long pins annoy me too (although they often have good info on them...)
    I'm aiming on getting more business savvy with Pinterest this month too, but I always get distracted by pretty flowers and cats. I don't think I'm game enough yet to do a contest though.

    I found pinterest last year and I went total addicted. I love it more specially of the cute DIY and easy ideas to decorate everything you want. It has great ideas for an sustainable and a world of great recipes! And it's all easy to find! I'm on pinterest to, I think you just liked one I repined yesterday :)
