Illustration Crush - David Fleck

Today I am introducing you to one of my favourite illustrative discoveries - David Fleck.

The first piece of David's work I saw was this one below, of hot air balloons over Edinburgh. I used to live in Edinburgh and have a strong connection to Scotland, my ancestral home, and so as you can imagine I loved this piece! And the more I looked into this young man's work the more I loved it!

As well as living in Edinburgh, I also lived on the Shetland Islands for a time and although it's been many years since I've been there, I still consider it my second home. In fact, Shetland is the only place outside of Tasmania that I honestly can say I felt like home. Two of my favourite things about these quirky little islands would have to be the dramatic coastlines and the gorgeous puffins! So you can imagine my delight when I saw David has illustrated these!

David is currently studying architecture in Glasgow and I think it's interesting to observe the architectural aspect in his illustrations sitting so perfectly with the imperfect lines of freehand drawing. And as a lover of treehouses, seeing this piece below firmly established David as one of my favourite Illustration Crushes yet!
