It's a lazy Sunday afternoon and I am writing this from Urban Alice, a pretty cool cafe I have never visited before in Northcote. I'm enjoying the ever-so-slightly-too-cool-for-school Melbourne cafe culture while doing a little bit of work during my "day off"! But seriously, who needs a day off when you create and write about art for a job?? Not me, that's for sure!
Yesterday was a huge day at the Finders Keepers Melbourne Market.... I intended to take lots of photos of all the lovely stall holders and their gorgeous wares, but instead I was rushed off my feet at the Red Parka stand. But that's a good thing!
I did manage a couple of Instagram shots though (of course!)..... I absolutely love doing shows in this building. Inside it's just stunning and it has a remarkable history - it was first opened in 1880 and has been used as the site of the two World Fairs, Australia's first federal parliament sitting in 1901, a makeshift hospital during the Spanish Influenza pandemic in early 1900s, sleeping quarters for the air force during WW2, a post-war migrant reception centre, an Olympic wrestling venue and of course the site for numerous art exhibitions, rock concerts, motor shows and markets!
Meet the Sponsors!
And now I have two super talented, creative ladies for you to meet. Jacquie and Bronwen sponsor my little blog here and they both make some absolutely gorgeous things so please have a read, take a look in their Etsy stores and show them some Red Parka love!
Oh, and make sure you come back and visit me tomorrow because both these gals have joined me to offer some great prizes in this year's mega birthday giveaway!!
See you tomorrow for my birthday!!

Under the Shade of a Bonsai Tree is a jewellery business based in Hobart and owned and designed by Jacqueline Rodemann. Jewellery ranges feature laser-cut designs made from Tasmanian timbers, bold acrylics and vibrant Japanese chiyogami paper. The jewellery pieces reflect Jacqueline's love of vintage folk art, Japanese icons and inspiration gained from travels around the world.
Bravo Juliet Designs started when my love of vintage glass and experience with resin came together. I have a over ten vintage inspired styles and sizes, each poured on my kitchen table in colourful resin. Resin is light and unbreakable, making them perfect for houses with kids and cats and where a vase in only 'that' colour will do.
See you tomorrow for my birthday!!

Finders Keepers sounds like such an amazing market. I always love visiting historic, character filled buildings and when filled with all that creative talent it doesn't get much better.
ReplyDeleteJacqueline's timber brooches are beautiful and the resin vases are amazing. I think I spied one on Christina Lowry's blog. x
I love some much the jewelry from Under a Bonsai Tree! Just adorable!
