Friday On My Mind #23 - Shetland Ponies in Cardigans, Experimental Lamingtons + More!

Happy Friday folks! Today I am happy because it's raining! For the first time in quite a while! Last night there was a small bushfire near my house and we got surrounded by smoke so the rain is such a welcome relief and is replacing the smoke smell with that lovely fresh rain smell.

For the record, the fire is well under control now and no threat to us or our neighbourhood, unlike the bigger fires around here of late. The police suspect this one was deliberately lit.... it makes me so angry that people can do such things! While no people or homes were lost, it's a tragedy to me that such beautiful bushland (where I walk with Benny most days) has been destroyed for no reason and no doubt lots of native birds and animals have been killed or left homeless. Grrrr. This is why I spend 95% of my time in my little Red Parka bubble.... I feel safe and happy here, unlike out in the real world!

Ok, now I have that out of my system, I have some fun things from inside the bubble to share with you today.... I hope these put a smile on your face as they did mine!

I am loving these gorgeous pictures taken for use in a Tourism Scotland campaign! I used to live on the Shetland Islands and whilst it's been over 10 years since I've been there I still consider it my second home.

I am drooling over the work of Icelandic artist Kristjana S Williams this week - isn't it incredible? This one is part of her latest collection called 'Dyragardur' which is Icelandic for Animal Garden.

I love this tea towel printing tutorial! How cute are they? Another one for the to-make-and-do list!

In honour of Australia Day tomorrow Frankie Magazine wrote about these fabulous and weird lamington recipes. For those outside of Oz, lamingtons are an Aussie tradition, said to be named after Lord Lamington who was governor of Queensland around 1900 (who, incidentally, hated these little cakes himself, apparently referring to them as "those bloody poofy woolly biscuits"!!) Anyway, this guy (who happens to be an Englishman living in Wales, not an Aussie!) has made it his mission to reinvent the humble lamington with recipes such as White Chocolate Toffee Popcorn Lamingtons, Pina Colada Lamingtons, Purple Rain Lamingtons and more! Might have to try whipping one of these up tomorrow!

Have a fabulous weekend everyone! Jen x
