Andrea Lauren of Paper Sparrow has long been a favourite illustrator of mine so I'm excited to finally share some of her beautiful work on the blog today. A cellist and artist based in NYC, Andrea draws inspiration from nature, vintage children's books and her favourite musical compositions which results in a quirky, bold style of art that really captures the imagination.
She has a colourful quirky style which totally appeals to me, but more than that, I really relate to the musical theme in her work. Like Andrea, I am a musician as well as an artist - in my youth I believed art would be a sideline to my music whereas it's turned out the other way round with art becoming my number one love. However, there's an interesting connection between the two and this is something Andrea explores in both her work as an artist and a musician.
I really love these music posters and she has chosen some of my favourite pieces to draw from! On her blog (which is awesome, by the way) she posts new works along with a clip of the piece of music which inspired it - it's so nice to be able to hit play and listen to the wonderful music while admiring the art. I truly love it!
