One of my own Christmas Card designs, available in the Red Parka Shop! |
I love Christmas but I hate the commercial frenzy that goes along with it - it all seems so irrelevant to what Christmas is all about, whether you are spiritual or not. However, despite my disdain for commercialism and capitalism, I do love giving presents! I'll be making my own or supporting independent makers this year in my search for gifts for my family.... here's a little bit of inspiration if you too are looking for the perfect handmade gift!
All these gorgeous creations are from my fellow Tasmanian artists and crafters and not only are they all exquisitely made, they are all affordable too! Yep, not one item in this little collage of loveliness is over $50.
Will you be shopping handmade this Christmas?

I love the way the artsy/crafty/rustic (and perceived as feminine) culture is merging with the self-made/"maker"/techno-hippie culture (perceived as masculine), and starting to build a global "not mass produced", etsy-aesthetic online :)
